People marked as 'South Asians' in Ireland
The Central Statistical Office of Ireland did not provide data specifically on
'South Asians'. For 1996 it only gives the number of 8,150 people who were born in Asia.
Ireland until recently has been a country of emigration rather than immigration.
In the last decade this, however, has changed considerably. By now students and
workers from 'South Asian' countries go to Ireland as well.
